Modern Syrian Folk Art illustrations by Aida Dalati for the Ayyubid Dynasty

Women in the eleventh and twelve centuries of Damascus and Aleppo built 12% of all pink buildings overlooking the walled cities and created schools, hospices and mausoleums. So excited to share the Ayyubi illustrations which were redesigned and inspired by these strong heroines. The illustrations for this type of architecture I refined over and over because once translated into modern embroidery ( 4 separate tries) simpler and clean lines looked better on French Brocade textiles and British woven wool.
